But if you already have and are having problems, Innovel is who you need to talk to, as /u/allogator and others mentioned. Suffice to say that I'd recommend against ordering anything significant from Costco online. In other words, maybe they'll stop treating me like a thief and instead as someone to whom they owe $3k worth of appliances. Now Innovel is attempting to locate the appliances and will get back to me "first thing tomorrow morning." HA! Meanwhile, I'm on hold with Costco (again) to see if the fact that Innovel now says that they didn't deliver the appliances changes anything on Costco's end. Innovel also never asked for a copy of my driver's license like Costco did, so I'm not sure what that was about. But Innovel (after repeated calls) has confirmed that they did not stop at my house that day, so hopefully we can at least move past this being about me trying to steal something. The bad news is that there's still no resolution. UPDATE, 8/3, 2pm, 6 days after appliances were supposed to be delivered: Thanks for the comments, everyone! I've spent a good bit of time on the phone with Costco and with Innovel. I have 4 kids that like playing outside, so not having a washer and dryer kinda sucks. But if they're actually going to do something for me, like at least expedite the shipping, I want that to happen as soon as possible. If that's the case, I'll probably just take a refund, buy appliances elsewhere, and never order anything online from Costco again. I'm also worried that their solution is just going to be to just ship things again, which presumably will take another 2-3 weeks. ![]() That's understandable, but I'd expect a balance between that some acknowledgment that I have a $3k order lost through no fault of my own. I'm trying to stay calm about the whole thing and not get angry with anyone, but I've gotten the feeling in my interactions with Costco that they think I'm trying to defraud them. Has anything like this happened to anyone else? Anyone have any advice? I feel pretty powerless here (and I'm running out of clean clothes). They left me a message saying their carrier insists it was delivered, and they asked that I email them a copy of my driver's license, and they'd get back to me. This afternoon, 3 days after I called and 4 days after they were supposed to be delivered, I missed a call from Costco. I told them I never received them, and they told me they'd get back to me within 2 days. Costco said their carrier, Innovel Logistics, says it was delivered. They never came, so I called on Sunday to see what happened. I scheduled delivery for this past Saturday, 7/29, 4 days ago. The German Ministry of Economics is planning extensive requirements for German companies doing business with China and the exclusion of suppliers from authoritarian states from critical infrastructure.I ordered a washer, dryer, and range from Costco a few weeks ago. "Should China attack Taiwan, the German economy could run into supply problems." "Russia's war against Ukraine has dramatically shown us how commodity dependence can be used as political leverage by autocratic regimes," Menkhoff said. The metals are indispensable in batteries, semiconductors, and magnets in electric cars. Germany imports about two-thirds of so-called rare earth metals from China. The main problem is Germany's dependence on China for critical raw materials, which are needed for the transition to cleaner energy and transport, Lukas Menkhoff, head of the global economy department at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), told Reuters. Some German politicians and scientists are alarmed at the interdependence of the two countries in some areas, given their sharply different views on social and political freedoms. The United States is much more important for German exporters than China, Zenglein said. "China is important as an export market, but far less important than it appears in the public perception," said Max Zenglein, chief economist at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (Merics). Overall, Germany had a trade deficit with China of around 84 billion euros. ![]() Exports of German goods to China increased by only 3.1% to around 107 billion euros.
